California Ghosts

Rich in history, there are many ghosts in California. Take the California Gold Rush. Many ghosts can be found near the area where gold was discovered in Coloma, located outside of Sacramento including the Vineyard House and the Man Lee and Wah Hop Stores.

San Francisco has numerous haunted locations. One of the best known is Alcatraz Island, a former prison. Another is China Town. Both locations offer ghost tours. A historic location in central California is that of Calico Ghost Town which is said to have its fair share of spirits.

There is also the well known haunted Toys R Us in Sunnyvale. Even the sleepy little town of Coalinga has its own ghost which hangs around the town's museum. Visiting San Juan Capistrano? Look for the ghost of a friar.

Southern California also has more than enough ghosts to keep ghost enthusiasts busy. From the haunted Hollywood Forever Cemetery to the Whaley House in San Diego, along with the Queen Mary in Long Beach which features paranormal and ghosts tours, there are many ghosts to be found in the Golden State.

Learn How to be Psychic in California

Interested in developing your psychic abilities? The state of California is a hot bed for paranormal activity. With its many historical sites, there are numerous opportunities to learn and practice the psychic art of psychometry. This is when a person can hold an object in their hand or touch a building and receive psychic images.
From Old Sacramento, to the historical buildings of San Francisco, haunted Hollywood locations and numerous San Diego ghostly locations, there are many places in which to practice psychometry. The first step in to find a historical building. Don’t do any research in advance. You want your mind to be clear of any information.
The next step is to close your eyes, take some deep, cleansing breaths and place your hands on the building. Pay attention to any thoughts or images that come to mind. Being that what you are touching is historical, check with the locals to find out if what you are experiencing is real. Odds are, if you are getting something from the location, then it is real, such as images of something that has occurred in the past.
Psychometry is a great way to help develop psychic skills and with all of the historical and haunted locations in California, it’s a great way to help develop your intuition.

Is There an Underwater UFO Base Off the Coast of Southern California?

According to Mufon investigator Preston Dennett, there is evidence to suggest that an underwater base exists in the Santa Catalina channel. With UFO sightings going back to the 1950s, Dennett claims that California is the leading state in UFO encounters. Not only have numerous sightings been made along the coast of Southern California, multiple witnesses claim to have seen these unidentified objects both entering and leaving the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the state. Mysterious lights in the water have also been seen with no logical explanation for what they truly are. Do UFOs even exist? There does seem to be a growing amount of evidence to suggest that they do. Something strange is going on off the coast of Southern California. It's up to you decide what it is.

Haunted Hollywood and Marilyn Monroe's Ghost

Marilyn Monroe will forever be known as one of Hollywood's biggest bombshells. With her death still shrouded in mystery, there are those who believe her spirit remains earthbound. Her ghost has been reported to be seen in many places with one of the most popular being the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. At one time she stayed in room 246 and it is claimed that her spirit has been seen in the mirror she used in that room. Don't go rushing to the hotel now though. At the time of this post, the mirror is no longer there. So why would Monroe still be here? It could be because of fond memories. One of her earliest jobs in Hollywood was posing for a suntan commercial by the pool. Her spirit is also said to haunt the Westwood Memorial Cemetery in Los Angeles. This is her final resting place. Some Hollywood legends never seem to completely die, literally.

Unique California Travel Attraction: Santa Cruz Mystery Spot

Located by Santa Cruz is an interesting place known as The Mystery Spot. Discovered in 1939, this California location challenges the laws of gravity. How is it a ball is able to roll uphill? Why do compasses act up? According to the official site some of the possible explanations include a magma vortex, radiesthesia and an alien spacecraft.
Whatever the explanation, it makes for an interesting 45 min. tour. Those who suffer from motion sickness should be careful as at times it's possible to feel dizzy. In addition, there's a hiking trail. Be sure to get tickets in advance, especially on the weekends.

Are There Real Ghosts in the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland?

Disneyland is billed as the "Happiest Place on Earth." One of its most popular attractions is The Haunted Mansion. Home to 999 ghosts, visitors climb into their DoomBuggies for a hauntingly fun ride. But, is the ride really haunted? For years, rumors have circulated that real ghosts frequent this attraction.
One ghost that is said to have been seen by numerous visitors is that of a little boy crying at the end of the ride. It has also been claimed that the ghost of a man wearing a tuxedo can sometimes be seen during the hitchhiking ghosts portion of the ride. Yet another supposedly spirit is that of a woman. Being that there have been deaths at the park, could these be the ghosts of people that met with untimely deaths while experiencing the rides and attractions at Disneyland or have some people allow themselves to become so submerged into the ride that their imaginations have taken over? What do you think?

Haunted Tunnels of Old Sacramento

Old Sacramento State Historic Park is a national historic landmark located in the downtown area of Sacramento. This popular tourist destination includes historic attractions, museums, shopping and a variety of dining options. It also has a unique seasonal tour of the underground tunnels beneath the park.
When the area was originally built, it was plagued with all sorts of disasters. Fires occurred and due to its riverfront location, the area was wiped out more than once by flooding. In an effort to keep this section of Sacramento safe, workers literally had to raise the streets. What's left today are underground tunnels and areas where businesses once stood. Some of these areas are said to be haunted.
Mysterious footsteps, eerie feelings, shadows and strange voices are some of the claims that people of made when underground at Old Sacramento. Enough claims were made to capture the attention of the TV show
Ghost Adventures who captured their fair amount of ghostly evidence while investigating. With all the people who died when disasters hit, it's no wonder it's known as one of the most haunted places in Sacramento. If this sounds of interest to you, seasonal tours of the underground tunnels are given. Departing from the Sacramento History Museum, tours last approximately one hour.

Mount Shasta Mysteries

Is Mount Shasta home to a secret UFO base? Could this be the reason that mysterious clouds have been reported above this mountain?  According to mysteriousworld.com, Mount Shasta is a very spiritual place.   It is recognized as a location of immense grandeur that can only be attributed to what Native Americans considered to be the Great Spirit.
Many races of beings have been rumored to reside within in the mountain. The Hopi believe that underneath this volcano is a hidden city inhabited by lizard men. Could these entities possibly be extraterrestrials that at some point crash landed?
Also rumored to live here are the descendents from the lost continent of Lemuria. Once located in the Pacific Ocean, this alleged continent is said to have been destroyed with its remains disappearing deep into the ocean. For some of the inhabitants who escaped, the myth goes that they made their way to Mount Shasta and due to their vast knowledge of science, were able to build underground caverns in which they named Telos.
Whether you believe the rumors are not, Mount Shasta is known for its New Age connection. There are some great metaphysical bookstores along with meditation retreats. If nothing else, it's a beautiful place to visit which brings about a feeling of serenity.
